The Magical Kingfisher

We have been learning how to retell traditional Aboriginal stories in our own words. Here is L.K's retelling.

Once upon a time there was a magical kingfisher. It watched the people.
Once it got TOO HOT! All the water dried up and the animals went away. They called for the magical kingfisher. It came and took them to his magical waterhole. They lived there for the rest of their life.

Great retelling Room 6. What do you think it would be like, living in a really, REALLY hot dry place? What would you wear? What would you eat?

It often gets very hot in Australia. I bet they wish they had a magical kingfisher to lead them to water all the time. Great retelling!

What a great story! I was in Australia not long ago but lucky it wasn't THAT hot!
How lucky those people were to have a magic kingfisher to look out for them.

Dear Room 6
It is very, very hot here in Thailand at the moment. I wish there was a magical kingfisher here to help us.
Great retelling. When's the next story?
